Au Pair
in
the USA
Who Can Apply?
Being an au pair in America is not for
everyone. Taking care of young children requires maturity, hard work
and patience. And don't forget, you will also be adapting to a new
culture and trying to establish a solid relationship with the parents
and children. The work will be challenging but can also be rewarding
and satisfying. You should be sure you are ready to work a full 12
months before committing to the program.
We want to see you as an IAPO Au Pair in USA if you:
-
are between the ages of 18-26
-
possess a driver's license (or be ready to
get one)
-
enjoy caring for children
-
have at least 3 months childcare
experience
-
have completed secondary school
-
speak conversational English
-
have no criminal record
-
are willing to commit to 12 months in the
U.S.
-
have not previously been an au pair in
America
Most families in the U.S. will not accept
a smoker. If you smoke and think you cannot quit before departing for
the U.S. for a year, it's better not to sign-up for the program. You
may not smoke on the program unless the host family has signed an
agreement with you stating it is OK to smoke during the program year.
